Wilson - Janes Cousin Session {Bitterroot, MT Family Photographer}

There are some clients who leave your studio, and you just can't wait to work with them again. Allison and her sweet family were like that. I took the Janes' family photos for Christmas. So when she contacted me again to do a cousin session for her beautiful girls and their cousins, a couple of rough and rowdy boys from California, I felt a little tingle of excitement.

"It could get crazy," she said, explaining the kids' ages. Kayden, the oldest, is 6; Ayla, 3; Addy and Harlen are 7 months. They were born within three weeks of each other, and you can already tell they're best buds.

Thing is, I love crazy! About as much as I love a challenge.

These kids have style (okay, their moms have style). I loved their coordinated outfits, Ayla's mop of reddish curls, Harlen's wide, toothless smile. And things did, in fact, get crazy. At one point, I had the two oldest kids jumping on a mattress on the floor of my studio, making silly faces, limbs flailing. And I thought, "I love my job."

I mean, who wouldn't, right?

Thank you for trusting me to capture your kiddos at this awesome stage of life, Allison and Ashley! To see more of the Janes - Wilson Cousin Session, visit: http://tiffanyphotography.pass.us/wilson-family/

Asher's First Buzz Cut {Bitterroot, MT Family Photographer}

If you've ever met me, you know I have a great many talents -- but cutting hair is not among them. I've butchered my son's fine, sandy blonde hair every time I've tried to cut it. Which is okay. Really, it is. He wears a hat for a few weeks while the jagged edges and bald spots even out. Eventually he looks semi-normal again. The key is that I keep trying. I have to get it right before he's old enough to experience shame.

This last hair cut was ... rough. He was wiggly, I was tired, my scissors are apparently missing some important pieces. So I didn't do a great job. I did such a bad job, my husband came in and said, "Um. That's bad. Like really bad. Maybe we should just buzz him."

My husband has a love-love relationship with his hair clippers. For as long as I've known him, I've never known his hair to be longer than an inch. He cuts it with military precision every 2-3 weeks and we've never paid for a professional haircut for him.

So, thinking he was the expert, I agreed to let him give our kid a crew cut.

Asher was not a fan.

He looks super stressed out, like, "What is happening to me?"

I have truly never seen him so devastated.

The torture is over. Bath time!

Okay, so it didn't turn out terrible. He's still a handsome little guy. Still, I think next time either of us suggest a DIY haircut, we'll make an appointment with a barber shop instead.
